FREIGHT TAKE 40-38 WIN ON THE ROAD IN TULSA
Fishers extends their winning streak to three games
TULSA- The Fishers Freight headed to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Oilers on Saturday night. After a back-and-forth matchup, the Freight came away with a narrow 40-28 victory.
FIRST QUARTER
The Fishers defense was able to hold Tulsa scoreless on their first drive before quarterback Felix Harper ran in a quick touchdown to make it 7-0 after a good kick from Calum Sutherland.
On the next Oilers possession, the Freight forced a turnover. They collected the ball almost in the end zone before driving far enough to give Sutherland a chance at a field goal.
After a successful kick, the Freight took a 10-0 lead.
The Oilers could not score before the first quarter ended.
SECOND QUARTER
Tulsa got on the board first in the second quarter with a touchdown by Jerminic Smith Sr. After a good extra point kick from Bailey Hale, the Freight kept a 10-7 lead.
The Freight could not score on their next possession. The Oilers took a lead with another touchdown late in the first half by Tripp Harrington. They earned their first lead of the game after a good kick made it 14-10.
On the last drive of the half, Harper was sacked, forcing a field goal attempt by Sutherland. He was unsuccessful.
After one final play from Tulsa, the first half ended with the Oilers up 14-10.
THIRD QUARTER
Fishers retook the lead 17-14 after a touchdown by Dominic Roberto and a good extra point kick from Sutherland.
Anthony James Jr. snagged Tulsa’s next touchdown quickly after Fishers scored. This gave them back their lead, 21-17. Hale added on a rouge point to make it 22-17.
On the next Fishers drive, Harper ran the ball in for another touchdown to make it 24-22 after the extra point kick was successful.
Sutherland scored a deuce on the next kickoff, extending the Freight’s lead to 26-22.
FOURTH QUARTER
The Freight opened the scoring in the final quarter with a touchdown by JT Stokes to make it 33-22 after another good kick.
Tulsa answered right back with a touchdown caught by Jerminic Smith Sr. They followed it up by going for the two-point conversion which made it 33-30 after TJ Edwards ran the ball in himself.
Stokes ran the ball for another touchdown on the next Freight possession. With another good extra point, Fishers led by ten points late in the game.
With just eighteen seconds left in the game, Tulsa’s Edwards scored by jumping into the end zone himself. On their second two-point conversion attempt of the game, they were successful.
Down by two, Tulsa had one kickoff in regulation remaining. They attempted the deuce but the ball was short.
Fishers was able to drain the clock on the next and final drive of the game to safely claim the win.
