GREEN BAY OUTLASTS FISHERS IN HIGH SCORING MATCHUP
Freight fall to Blizzard on the road in week two
GREEN BAY- The Fishers Freight played their first road game of the season in Green Bay against the Blizzard. After a dominant first half by the Blizzard, Fishers rallied back in the third quarter but could not defeat Green Bay in their home.
FIRST QUARTER
The Freight kicked off to the Blizzard, who scored their first touchdown on their first drive. Quarterback Liam Thompson, an Indianapolis native, rushed it in to make it 6-0 after the extra point kick was blocked.
On the Freight’s first possession, they turned the ball over to Green Bay.
Thompson threw to Isaac Ross for the Blizzard’s second touchdown of the night. This time, the extra point was good. Green Bay went up 13-0.
It appeared Fishers scored on their next possession after Isaiah Coulter made a huge catch over the boards, but the play was challenged by Green Bay and no touchdown was called.
Instead, Calum Sutherland attempted a field goal to put the Freight on the board but missed. The score remained 13-0 as the quarter ended.
SECOND QUARTER
Green Bay added to their lead with another touchdown rushed in by Liam Thompson and a good extra point kick.
Fishers got on the board after a touchdown pass from Felix Harper to CJ Windham early in the second quarter. Sutherland had a good kick, making it 20-7 in favor of the Blizzard.
That only lasted until the next kickoff, when Sutherland tacked on two more points with a successful deuce attempt.
The Blizzard answered back with another touchdown quickly. Thompson threw to Draysean Hudson to make it 26-9 after another missed kick.
Harper was tackled in the end zone, resulting in a safety for Green Bay on the next drive.
Thompson completed another pass to Draysean Hudson to make it 35-9 in favor of the Blizzard.
Feliz Harper rushed in the game’s next touchdown to make it 35-17 after a good extra point kick from Sutherland.
With less than a minute left in the half, Green Bay turned over the ball after a field goal attempt that was missed by Mevis.
The second half ended with a score of 35-16 in favor of the Blizzard.
THIRD QUARTER
Josiah King opened the scoring for the Freight in the second half with a rushing touchdown to make it 35-22 before Sutherland tacked on the extra point.
On the next drive for Green Bay, Mevis missed the field goal attempt, turning the ball back over to the Freight.
JT Stokes scored next for Fishers to begin a second half shootout between these two teams.
Green Bay’s Liam Thompson rushed for another touchdown just two minutes later to bring the score to 42-29.
Harper threw a late-quarter touchdown pass to Isaiah Coulter which added six points for the Freight. Fishers went for the two-point conversion, but did not get it. The score remained 42-36.
FOURTH QUARTER
On the kickoff, Sutherland successfully completed an onside kick that was picked up by the Freight, however the drive ended on an interception by Green Bay.
The Blizzard capitalized on that with a field goal by Mevis to make it 45-36.
Fishers charged down the field to score another touchdown and stay in the game. Josiah King rushed in to make it 45-42. They went for two again but could not score.
Green Bay fired right back with another touchdown by Thompson, however Mevis’ kick was not good on the extra point attempt.
That is how the game would end despite a last chance drive for the Freight, where they could not score.
